In my further exploration of superimposing a wave motif over a Lissajous curve, I reduce both the range of variation of the RGB colour mix and also reduce the opacity used to draw the wave motifs, give a more delicate, transparent effect.
The stripe-effect is caused by increasing the frequency with which colours vary with respect to the rate at which the underlying Lissajous curve is traced.
