This series explores the introduction of randomness into the generation of wave images.
In this series I am concentrating on producing background textures.
Having explored the use of strong colour with Lissajous Curves, I find I prefer figures that aim for a more restrained palette.

The basic Lissajous algorithm is adjusted again to get more textured backgrounds.
These images are based on superimposing a wave motive on an underlying Lissajous curve.
These figures are generated by epi-cyclic motions where the selection of harmonics is constrained to produce forced symmetries.
To some extent this was inspired by the Spirograph toy (which goes back to my youth and is still apparently available today). This is perhaps most apparent in the earlier pictures.
These are some early explorations in Generative Art using the Processing tool. All are developments of an initial idea of using cyclic motions.
I always have a small sketchbook in my rucksack when walking in the remote places of the UK.
